Moonrise Kingdom

In which the hubs and I go to see another movie, on a goal I’ve already finished (#59).

Thanks to being treated by the lovely Katie W., we headed out to indulge the hubs’ love for all things Wes Anderson and saw Moonrise Kingdom in the fun old theatre in Norfolk. We waded out way through the costumed crowd that was leaving the double feature of Serenity and Dr. Horrible’s Sing-Along Blog to stand in the substantial line. It was definitely an experience just to get into the building.

Once there, we headed up to the balcony. I think the movie outing was a success — I liked the film, the hubs loved it, and I think we all had fun in the relaxed atmosphere where people clapped at the end of the movie. That’s just a good crowd of folks with whom to spend a few hours in the dark.

Keeping track of our movie-going for this goal has been interesting — I think there’s a pretty good variety here that I really wouldn’t have noticed otherwise. So, any recommendations for what to see next?

  1. Summer 2012 has been all about movies! I don’t know how it happened, but in the past few months I’ve seen at least a dozen films in the theater! Expensive!

But Mom and I just saw Seeking a Friend for the End of the World. I admit, I cried my eyes out toward the end, but it did get me thinking. Not so much about the end of the world, but about what you do when you know you only have a certain amount of time left. The movie captured many different people who made different choices. Plus, I love Steve Carrell more and more in each of his movies. So, go see it maybe.
